Lack of update for Quick Zip 5, but it’s not dead, I am still working on it.
Because a number of reasons (mainly performance), Quick Zip 5.00 is no longer being developed, I have rewritten it from ground up again, and it was just a couple months ago.
The new version will be Quick Zip 5.10. The new version have the following completed :
- Performance – Faster compared with 5.00, which mostly because 5.10 no longer attempt to load every directory on the way.
- Navigation – Including Back/Next button, History and Breadcrumb bar (Breadcrumb bar does not support history)
- Shell – Listing all shell folders, including Libraries in Win7. Support Drag and Drop,
Show Shell Context menu when right click on files and/or directories. - Toolbar – Allow toggle File List View. It can host commands and command menu, but it contains a few dummy commands only.
- Directory tree – Display archive as directory, refresh when file system changed.
- File list – ExtraLargeIcon, LargeIcon, Icon, SmallIcon, List, Grid and Tile View is completed, each with improved selection support.
- Status bar – As you see in the screenshot.
- Action – Action invoke from Context Menu (e.g. rename, delete) is completed.
What is not completed :
- Translation – I will try to use Quick Zip 5.00 translation if possible.
- Tab – No Tab support is available now, prepared the design, will require another layer.
- Toolbar commands – Working on it.
After the Toolbar command is completed, I am looking to release a UCTest so I can start receiving bug report.
Crash report will be collected by BugTrap, which is an automatically send bug report to me via email. It will also include a bug submission form using GoogleDocs.
Because of the rewrite, a number of new open-source components are written, , one of them is FileExplorer, which includes the FileList / DirectoryTree I developed, except it don’t support archives (that one is for QuickZip!). If you want to test the performance of the new version you can try it yourself.
